Boeing throws its hat in the ring for Polish VIP aircraft
Published:
1/13/2000
According to Christopher Blumenthal, Director of European Sales at Boeing, the company is keen to participate in a Polish tender for executive aircraft. He quoted a price tag of some $44m per aircraft: a significant increase on the $35m cited in April 1999. Blumenthal claimed that this could be financed by credit. The Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) has a non-stop flying range of over 10,000 km and can carry up to 50 people. Blumenthal added that delivery could be made within twelve months from the date of the order.
In December 1999, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation declared its interest in the tender to replace the Polish Air Force"s Tu-154s and Yak-40s. Airbus is also reported to be a likely candidate. BBJ is a joint venture with GE and was launched in 1996.
