The Ibis Aerospace joint venture between state-owned Taiwanese producer, AIDC and Czech Aero Vodochody, expects to rollout the first of its single general aviation turboprop, the Ae-270 Ibis , on 10th December, on schedule for certification by 2001 (www.concise.org 28th June 1999).
Powered by the Pratt& Whitney Canada PT6A-42A, the first prototype will be designated as the Ae-270P and will be pressurised with a retractable undercarriage, in contrast to the Walter M601 powered version, designated as the Ae-270W, which will be unpressurised and have a fixed landing gear. The latter is being rolled out in about six months, according to reports.
The aircraft will be assembled in the Czech Republic at Odolena Voda and will incorporate a number of structures from Taiwan, including the wings, and some from the Czech Republic, including horizontal tail surfaces from Evektor in Kunovice (www.concise.org 28th June 1999).
