KAPO still pushing the Tu-214

KAPO's Tu-214 trials reach final phase with help from the Tartarstan Government

Published: 10/25/1999

The final phase of Tu-214 acceptance tests began on October 6th, thanks to financial support by the Tatarstan Government, which provided funding worth Rb 25m. According to Vyacheslav Grachev of KAPO, this will be more than enough to complete the certification of the new variant of the Tu-204 by December. The development of Tu-214 medium-haul passenger plane began in 1994 to replace the Tu-154 and Il-62 and has been developed in parallel with the Tu-204 series at Aviastar. The Tatarstan Government and the federal authorities have invested over Rb 43.5m in the project.
