New routes announced for Sibir

Sibir gives details of new routes out of Vnukovo

Published: 10/11/1999

Sibir has revealed further details of its planned route development, in line with its strategy of growing its Moscow hub at Vnukovo (www.concise.org. 6th October 1999). In September, it started operating a regular flight to Sochi from Vnukovo Airport, using a Tu-154 upgraded to provide a business class service. It plans to open two more routes, Moscow-Omsk and Moscow-Nizhnevartovsk. It is also considering international options (Munich, Dusseldorf, Prague), CIS routes (Almaty, Bishkek) and a further domestic route (Mineralnye Vody). In August 1999, Sibir accounted for 12% of total flights at Vnukovo and 30% of total payments by Russian airlines to the airport.
