Sukhoi Advanced Technologies looks for funding to fulfill orders for Su-29 and Su-31 training and aerobatic aircraft

Sukhoi Advanced Technologies (PTS) is planning to increase its authorized capital and issue stock, in order to raise working capital to fulfill contracts on the delivery of the Su-29 and Su-31, training and acrobatic aircraft, according to Boris Rakitin, General Designer of PTS.
According to Rakitin, PTS has also received proposals from manufacturers KAPO, Kazan, LMZ and Lukhovitsy, for the serial production of the S-38L agricultural aircraft. The project, which has been under development since 1994 and currently does not have a completed prototype, although a mockup exists with a VOKBM M-14P engine. He added that negotiations with KAPO were well advanced.
The design documentation is reported to be close to completion and several prototypes are due to be completed by mid-2000 according to the company. The price of an S-38L, powered with the Czech 210 hp engine, the LOM M-337, is estimated to be in $120,000-170,000 range, according to the layout. The aircraft, which is projected to have a ten-year life, is intended to generate 20-30% of PTS's revenues. Demand in the Russian market for agricultural aircraft is estimated by PTS to be 800-900 aircraft, and is a market that a number of producers including MAPO with their Avitika-890 Farmer, are looking at for strong growth.
