More problems for Vnukovo

Strike action poses yet another problem for Moscow carrier

Published: 9/29/1999

Vnukovo Airlines is currently experiencing its long expected industrial action with over 200 employees a day refusing to fulfill their duties, according to Valery Mezinov of the ground staff trade union. The action, which began on The 24th of September, is designed to force the management of the troubled airline, to fulfill their contract with employees, particularly paying arrears in wages which amount to 20m rubles over the last four months. For the Deputy General Director Andrey Mushinsky, the dispute has already been settled with an agreement to pay two months arrears and the balance at a later date in response to earlier threats of action. Mezinov however, reiterates the strike is legal and the management has not yet come to a settlement.
