Polyot gets ATC order

Domestic ATC equipment orders reflect desire of FSVT to go Russian
Published:
9/29/1999
It seems that the efforts of Russian authorities to source air traffic control equipment from cheaper domestic producers
may have started, with the announcement of an order to Chelyabinsk-based producer Polyot (www.concise.org 20th September 1999) .
According to a report in the South Ural News Service, Polyot has received an order for equipment specified as surveillance radars and automated landing systems. The report claims that the order is for four sets of equipment valued at $1.2 m each, with the first two sets delivered to Khabarovsk and Irkutsk in September.
The order will be followed up by further business and the company expects to deliver four sets a year until 2002. The report also states that the price of the Polyot equipment is one quarter of its potential foreign competitors.
