Satellite launch

Glonass satellites launched from Baikonur

Published: 9/15/1999

A Foton-12 satellite, launched on 9th September 1999 by a Soyuz-U missile-carrier from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, successfully reached its planned orbit. Foton-12 was manufactured by the Progress State Space Centre in Samara, under an order placed by the Russian Aerospace and Space Agency. The satellite's equipment, which was manufactured in Russia, Germany, Sweden, and France, will help test space biotechnologies in conditions of the lowest microgravitation level provided by this type of satellite. Foton programme launches have been made from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome since 15th April 1985.
