Iranians accept Russian certification of new aircraft
Published:
9/1/1999
MAK, the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee and the Iranian Civil Aviation Organisation have signed an agreement under which Iran will accept certificates of airworthiness for Russian aircraft issued by MAK.
At present, most of the civilian aircraft operated in Iran are Russian or Soviet-made, as a result of sanctions against the country. Iran has become one of Russia's largest potential markets for civilian aircraft, with a number of projects for local licence production currently being discussed, including the recently reported Tu-334 production deal (www.concise.org 3/26/99).
