DASA opens its office in Warsaw

Published: 3/27/1998

On 11 March , Daimler-Benz Aerospace officially opened its new office in Warsaw, even though has been active for almost a year. President and CEO of DASA, Manfred Bischoff, used this opportunity to meet a number of Polish politicians, including President Kwaniewski. The German company is marketing a number of products, including equipment for the MiG-29 upgrade, 22 of which are in service with the Polish Air Force. For over a year, DASA, under the leadership of Airbus Industrie, has been negotiating the sale of between two and four Airbus A340s to Polish Airlines, to strengthen LOT's long distance capabilities. It is possible that Polish manufacturers in Mielec, Swidnik and Rzeszow will be involved with the A3XX program, and other projects of the European consortium. Currently, PZL-Swidnik has established some collaboration and is delivering components for Airbus doors. Initial deliveries have been made meeting both the required quality and time scales. Negotiations about possible expanding of the collaboration are under way. (MM) (IN398.5)
