ATM makes progress

Published: 3/27/1998

ATM is close to gaining certification for its ATM-QAR-4 quick access solid state decoder, from the Russian Civil Aviation Authorities. The official handing-over of the certificate may take place at the Berlin Air Show in May. Meanwhile, the recorder has been installed on board an Ilyushin Il-96, which is in service with Aeroflot IA, and five more -96s are to be similarly fitted. Earlier models of ATM's recorders have been fitted to other types, including Il-62Ms, while the QAR-4 is also fitted to the Tupolev Tu-204-120. Polish equipment has been introduced as standard, and will be installed on all Tu-204-120s. Negotiations are under way with ANTK Tupolev about the introduction of the recorder into the Tu-334, and if a contract is agreed, the first plane fitted with the Polish device will be exhibited at ILA'98. In the CIS, the companydelivered its Ground Replay Station to Uzbekistan Airlines, which is using it to monitor the performance of the recently introduced Avro RJs. ATM announced that it will present, at ILA'98, its Dedal Acquisition Unit dedicated for Sokol, Bryza and Skytruck. In the case of Sokol, it might be an initial step to create a domestic HUMS system.(MM)(IN398.4)
