Czech state monopoly Omnipol changes

Omnipol seeks new role

Published: 6/28/1999

The former monopoly Czech aviation import/export agency Omnipol is beginning to re-invent its self in the new environment of the Czech aviation market. The company has been forced to find a new role as most of its former clients have become independent or have been sold to other aviation businesses. The response has been to become an agent for producers of radar, avionics, UAVs and parachutes. At Le Bourget, Omnipol was exhibiting VERA- E passive surveillance system which allows multi-mode operations and detection and the tracking of up to 200 targets. The other system BORAP scans up to 450 km. One of Omnipol's more interesting products could be the Sojka III UAV system. The system is already fully operational with the Czech Air Force, which has one flight of the UAVs. The Sojka III is also priced significantly below those of competitive systems and is felt to meet most of the needs of potential buyers.
