Archangelsk Airlines to service Plesetek Cosmodrome

“Special charters” to fly to military airport (88 words)

Published: 9/17/2001

Archangelsk Airlines (AVL) has received permission to start services to the increasingly important Plesetek Cosmodrome in North West Russia. The airline says it will operate what it calls “special charters”, using an An-24 and An-26, to Plesetsk Airport, which is within a military zone and consequently not open to the public. AVL would not elaborate on the nature of the special charter, except to confirm that it is preparing its pilots for their new duties.
