KrasAir agrees fuel contract with refinery

Deal with Achinsk refinery should secure reliability of current and future fuel needs (150 words)
Published:
9/17/2001
Boris Abramovich, General Director of Krasnoyarsk Airlines (KrasAir), is believed to have signed an agreement with Achinsk Refinery (part of Yukos), tying the airline, which has recently suffered fuel shortages, to the refinery for the supply of aviation fuel.
According to Mikhail Pogozhikh of KrasAir, the move is intended both to resolve the airline's fuel shortages, which on 3rd August, resulted in delays to a number of flights, and to provide additional fuel for the development of Krasnoyarsk Airport, which is controlled by KrasAir.
Although the August deficit was attributed to problems with the railways, the agreement with Achinsk will mean that the airport has immediate access to at least five days of fuel. Krasnoyarsk will also act as a sales agent for Yukos' fuel to other airlines using the airport.
