Magadan Airlines' Tu-154B makes emergency landing

Retraction problem with landing gear (120 words)

A Tu-154B belonging to Magadan-based airline, MAVIAL (Magadan Airlines), made an emergency landing at Magadan Airport in Russia's Far East after problems with the landing gear. The aircraft, en route from Magadan to Vladivostok with 119 people on board, turned back to Magadan 30 minutes into the flight, owing to the fact that the left landing gear had not retracted. The aircraft finally managed to retract with the second hydraulic system and land successfully. According to the spokesman from GSGA, the aircraft was built in 1982 and spent only 27,000 hours out of 37,500 hours of safe life. The agency is forming a commission to examine the incident.
