Changed slot for Aeroflot out of Tiblisi

Georgia improves leaving times (130 words)

Published: 1/22/2001

Georgia has agreed to restore a slot for Aeroflot, between Tiblisi and Moscow. Aeroflot is now able to leave Tiblisi at 15:00 or ten minutes behind the Georgian flight to Moscow, instead of the previous arrangement of 2.5 hours later. According to Mikheil Nadareishvili (head of regional transportation for Georgia's Civil Aviation's Administration), the Georgian airlines have been opposed to the change of slots for some time. This is because of the belief that it reduces the competitiveness of the Georgian carrier on flights to the Russian capital. According to local news, the change was achieved as a result of concessions relating to delays in VAT charges on Georgian airlines in Russia. It also maintains that the gap between flights out of Moscow will remain at 2.5 hours.
