Aeroflot A-310 makes emergency landing

Aircraft lands in Novosibirsk (200 words)

Published: 12/5/2000

One of Aeroflot's A-310 on a schedule flight from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Moscow, is reported to have made an emergency landing at Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk. Aeroflot however, have said the stop was a scheduled refueling and “maintenance” stop, contradicting the comments of airport employees who reported that the pilot had reported a problem with nose landing gear during final approach. It appears that there were no problems with the gear and the aircraft landed without incident, but 52 passengers on the aircraft were flown on another aircraft to Moscow leaving a further 72 awaiting an aircraft as the A-310 was inspected. The airport authorities were circumspect about the event, saying that they had dozens of these problems a month with Russian made aircraft Elsewhere one of those events on Russian built aircraft occurred on the 27th November, when a Tu-154 on a flight between St. Petersburg-Krasnoyarsk-Khabarovsk-Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky made an emergency landing at the Yemelyanovo Airport in Krasnoyarsk. The aircraft could not retract its right landing gear after taking off from Krasnoyarsk and the decision was made to return to Yemelyanovo Airport with a successful landing 1.5 hours later for the 59 people on board.
