Swissair wants to fly to Poznan

Published: 7/24/1998

Swissair is planing to open scheduled operations to Poznan in western Poland, an area with fast economic development. The airline currently connects Warsaw and Krakow with Zurich and Geneva, but before operations to Poznan can start it must obtain permission from Polish aviation authorities which will certainly look at LOT's reciprocal plans. However, a Poznan-London sevice is LOT's priority: in autumn LOT and British Airways will initiate three services a week on the route. Marketing analysis shows that LOT is losing between 100,000-200,000 potential passengers per year in favour of Berlin airfields, equivalent to a loss of revenue of some US$30million. (EE798.3) (MM)
