Rosvooruzhenie starts marketing An-38-100
|
Additional muscle for the regional airline
Published:
5/15/2000
It seems the Russian export establishment is pulling the stops out in the export promotion of the An-38-100, with Rosvoorzhenie joining the efforts of NAPO in collaboration with Aviaexport in selling the aircraft outside Russia. The specific targets for the Rosvoorzhenie sales efforts remain unclear, but Aviaexport and NAPO are reported to have high hopes in India and have said that they are preparing a letter of intention for an order of 40 aircraft. This is a significant improvement on earlier interest reported to be for ten aircraft.
The aircraft is currently operated by two operators in Russia, three with Vostok Airlines and one with Alrosa Avia based in Moscow. The latter has an order for a further four aircraft to operate in support of diamond mining activities in Yakutiy and an additional aircraft is expected to be delivered soon. Three other airframes are in various states of completion at NAPO in Novosibirsk. According to NAPO they are currently testing the aircraft with Russian engines, the Omsk MKB TVD-20, the first aircraft being powered by Allied Signal TPE331-14GR-801E.
