PZL Mielec to produce for BAe Systems
|
Plant to produce parts across BAe"s range
Published:
3/28/2000
The PZL Mielec engineering facility in southeastern Poland is to manufacture more parts and equipment for civilian and military aircraft for the BAe Systems.
Wieslaw Burkiewicz, Commercial Executive of PZL said that the company will be making parts and sub-systems for Eurofighters, Airbuses and Nimrods. The company, which dates back to 1938, produces engineering parts and systems for a number of international companies and is one of the first companies in Poland to receive a NATO supplier licence.
This is part of the re-emergence of the PZL aviation plant following its separation, in autumn 1998, from the bankrupt WSK PZL Mielec by the Industrial Development Agency. In February 2000, the Mielec reported that it had completed its first year of trading with a profit of 1.1m zloty ($270,000), confirming the optimism of Daniel Romanski, its Chief Executive officer, about the plant's future.
