Russian and Georgian carriers cooperate

Aeroflot and Zena agree to cooperate between Tiblisi and Moscow

Published: 2/14/2000

On 8th February, Aeroflot and Georgian airline, AirZena-Georgian Airlines, signed a deal to cooperate across a wide range of areas, including maintenance and service. AirZena-Georgian Airlines is the entity created out of the merger of the state airline with two private airlines at the end of 1999. According to sources in Tbilisi, the agreement is intended to improve the coordination of flights, with the overall objective of achieving code-sharing. It will facilitate the use of the representative office of each airline by the other. There will be more flights between Tbilisi and Moscow by the two carriers, connecting with the respective hubs and so allowing greater coordination with ongoing flights in the two regions.
