US customers for the Be-200 denied

US customers for the Be-200 not here yet according to Beriev

Published: 2/14/2000

Despite speculation in the Russian media of orders from the US for the Be-200 amphibian, the Taganrog based design bureau says that it has had no approaches to export the aircraft to the USA. Discussions were reported to have taken place late last year between Betair, the Beriev marketing vehicle, and Canadian amphibian producer, Bombardier, regarding certification for the US market and the support of the aircraft in the field by Bombardier's maintenance infrastructure. The success of those discussions is regarded by Betair to be pivotal to US and Canadian sales. The reports said that the US buyers were considering a deal which involved buying the aircraft without avionics and fitting out the aircraft to their own specifications.
