BAL to get newer aircraft

Ufa based airline acquires two ex Czech Tu-154Ms

Published: 12/12/1999

Bashkirsky Airlines (BAL) based in Ufa, has acquired two second hand Tu-154Ms from Czech Airlines in a $6m deal. According to BAL, the aircraft are ‘fully modernised" and potentially could operate for another 15-20 years. The deal enables BAL to replenish its existing, aging fleet of Tu-154Bs and at a reported price of $6m, this looks like a good deal. BAL was formerly part of Samara based Aerovolga, is currently building an international terminal and launching a number of new routes.
