Y2K reassurance

Aeroflot and Sheremetyevo Airport say they are ready for Y2K and will maintain full schedule

Published: 12/12/1999

Aeroflot has stressed its confidence in Y2K preparations, insisting that it will continue to fly its regular schedule during the night of 31st December and throughout the day on 1st January 2000. Moscow"s Sheremetyevo Airport has also said that it does not expect any problems related to Y2K and that systems have been fully tested, with manual back-up procedures in place. Reports from various bodies looking into the Y2K problem for Russia, are of the view that although the FSVT has done a thorough job covering the compliance of Russia"s aircraft, there continues to be concerns relating to the performance of individual airports.
