Uncertificated private aircraft grounded
|
Published:
5/22/1998
Russian private aircraft that have not undergone a special examination and do not have a certificate of flying fitness will be barred from flights this year, an official at Russia's Federal Aviation Service told ConCISe. An order to this effect has already been issued by the service director and approved by the Russian Justice Ministry. According to the service's official statistics, Russia now has some 7,000 general-purpose and light aircraft. The aircraft used by agricultural companies for non-commercial purposes are also to undergo certification.
The Federal Aviation Service held a meeting on this issue, which is to be followed by similar meetings at the service's regional directorates. At the initial stage, certificates will be issued only by experts of the service's central staff. After departments are established at regional directorates, regional experts will also have the right to issue certificates. The private aircraft certification process is expected to get under way in June and be completed this year. (IN598.12) (VZ)
