Polish tender expected soon

Warsaw airport tender due January 2000

Published: 11/30/1999

In January 2000, the Polish Airports State Enterprise (PPL) is expected to announce a tender to build a new passenger terminal at Warsaw"s Okecie Airport. The airport has been struggling to cope with high levels of passenger traffic generated as a result of the upswing in the Polish economy (www.concise.org. 21st October 1999). The new terminal will cost an estimated $350m. A decision on the tender is likely to be made in the second half of 2000. Airport officials have insisted that the extension can be completed by 2003. This seems a little ambitious. No details have yet been revealed as to how the project will be financed. Previous reports suggested that PPL plans to fund the project through a combination of its own resources and Polish bank loans.
