Published: 11/30/1999

Sibir has reported another set of positive operating results for the first ten months of 1999. Between January and October, it carried 3.7% more passengers than in the whole of 1998, reflecting the aggressive growth strategy the company is pursing in its bid to become one of the major Russian carriers. At present, Sibir lies in 4th/5th position, in terms of passenger revenue per kilometre in Russia. During the period RPK increased by 24.3%, with passenger numbers in the period up by 23.2% on the same period in 1998. Although comparable load factor figures were not available, passenger load factor was running at 68.4% in the period January to October, despite a fleet that increased the number of aircraft from 24 to 29 by adding five new Tu-154B & Ms to cover a 28% increase in number of flights.
