NATO deal for Czech Republic

Czechs conclude radar deal with NATO for new installations

Published: 11/19/1999

The Czech Republic has concluded an agreement with NATO on the construction of two 3D radar installations, worth 1.4 billion Czech crowns. Deputy Defence Minister, Jindrich Tomas, who signed the agreement, also signed an agreement on co-operation and co-ordination with Hungary, which will build the radars. The Czech Republic will prepare a public tender to select a firm to supply the infrastructure at the radar sites. NATO, in its turn, will declare a public tender for the electronics. According to the agreed timetable, the radars will be connected to the information network of both the Czech defence forces and NATO within five years.
