1999 arms exports set to reach £2.7 billion
Published:
11/9/1999
Aleksandr Kotelkin, newly appointed Chief Marketing Advisor to Aleksei Ogarev, Head of Rosvooruzenhie, has claimed that the Russian arms trading company expects to conclude deals worth $2-2.5 billion over the next few months. These are most likely to be with India, which is currently a major source of business.
Kotelkin added that total arms exports for 1999 are set to reach $3-3.1 billion, of which Rosvooruzhenie"s share is $2.7 billion. He said that, consequently, Russia would move from fourth or fifth to third place among world arms exporters, after the US and UK. Kotelkin was formerly Director of Rosvooruzhenie from 1994-1997.
