Russian airline begins weekly flights to Gaza

According to a report in Palestinian newspaper, Al-Quds, Fayiz Zaydan, Head of the Palestinian Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Palestinian Airways, has stated that an agreement has been signed with Russian airline, RusAvia, owned by aircraft producer MAPO, to operate weekly flights between Gaza international airport and Moscow airport to transport both passengers and goods. The launch date still has to be set and will be announced after the completion of administrative and technical agreements. Zaydan added that the new connection would benefit thousands of Palestinian students studying at Russian universities and encourage trade between the two countries.
