KAPP gains one of the largest helicopter orders ever

Helicopter orders come though for KAPP from South Korea

Published: 10/19/1999

Local reports suggest that the Kumertau Aviation Production Enterprise (KAPP) and the South Korean firm, LG, have concluded a contract for the delivery of fifty Ka-32 helicopters. This follows earlier confirmation of a preliminary agreement between the two companies (www.concise.org 7th September 1999), concerning the acquisition of 30 helicopters and the possibility of further cooperation. This is claimed to be the biggest helicopter transaction in the world. Some 30 Ka-32s are already operating in South Korea, used mainly by the Seoul Fire Brigade. The deliveries will help offset ex-USSR debt to South Korea.
