RAC cancels regional aircraft tender

Tupolev's offer was found insufficient too. According to the company, first aircraft would be delivered no earlier than 2005, provided sufficient funds are found for completion of the requisite design and production line preparation work. Participants in the tender decided to continue negotiations with the manufacturers on their own. Vnukovo Airlines expressed interest in the Boeing airliners, whereas Tumenaviatrans favours Bombardier. The RAC declared its intention to continue working with Tupolev within a framework of a joint programme on the two proposed regional jets, the Tu-324 with 50 seats and Tu-334 with 100 seats.(VK) (IN498.2)
