Potential Libyan boost for Kazan with possible order for Mi-14s
Published:

Leonid Babushkin, Deputy General Director of KVZ (Kazan Helicopter Plant), has claimed that KVZ may resume serial production and upgrade of the amphibious Mi-14 helicopters for Libya, of which 273 have been delivered to date including 12 of the Mi-14PL variant to Libya equipped with ASMs.
According to Babushkin, the lifting of sanctions on arms exports to Libya would help fill currently underutilised production capacity at KVZ, through the manufacture of new M-14s or the modernisation of helicopters supplied to Libya. KVZ produced Mi-14s, in addition to the Russian Naval Aviation, for Bulgaria, Vietnam, GDR, Cuba, Libya, Poland, North Korea, Syria, Yugoslavia and a number of civilian operators. KVZ exports 90-95% of all of the Mi-8/17 helicopters it currently produces.
