New cargo airport moves closer to opening

Ermolino airport, in the Kaluga region, south west of Moscow, could become the first cargo airport in Russia, according to Vladimir Dovgan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ermolino Test Flight Enterprise. Ermolino has already received approval from the State Customs Committee, the Federal Air Transport Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defence.
The first phase of creating the airport will be approval of the airport as a border entry point.
The project has now been submitted to the Russian government for approval.
