New terminal to be built at Moscow Sheremetyevo

The construction of a new terminal is to begin at Moscow's Sheremeyevo Airport in 1998. This will increase the handling capacity of the airport and make it more attractive, says Valery Okulov, General Director of the Aeroflot company. Tentative estimates have shown that the construction of the first section of the terminal will cost US$50-70m, Okulov says. Aeroflot carried 3.9 million passengers in 1997 and 92,400 tonnes of mail and cargo. The commercial payload increased by 2%.(VZ) (AP398.5)
