LOT and Finnair sign code-sharing

Published: 3/27/1998

Polish Airlines LOT and Finnair signed an agreement about closer collaboration and code-sharing at the beginning of March. This immediately doubles the offering on Warsaw-Helsinki by both operators. Catering is also expected to form part of the agreement. Co-ordination of time table programmes is also expected to give travellers easy connections. For LOT the benefit of the agreement is to have access to a number of operations on domestic and Scandinavian connections served by Finnair, while Finnair wants to reinforce its competitive position with SAS. As both companies are in an alliance with British Airways, it is possible that closer collaboration leading even to a strategic alliance may well be established in the future.(MM) (AL398.9)
