Berezovsky still continues to haunt Aeroflot
Published:
8/25/1999
Alexander Krasnenker, Commercial Director of Aeroflot, who was recently re-appointed to his former position as part of a court settlement, has been dismissed once again by order of Nikolai Volkov, an investigator of the Prosecutor General's Office, according to a report in Moskovsky Komsomolets.
Krasnenker, a close associate of Boris Berezovsky, has been under investigation by the Prosecutor General for some time. He is accused of illegal business operations and money laundering and exited Aeroflot earlier in 1999 after charges of illegal activity.
According to Krasnenker's lawyer, the article of the Criminal Code used to dismiss him does not apply, given Krasnenker's status within the company. However, Volkov asserts that the dismissal was the decision of Aeroflot, not the Prosecutor General's Office, which removed Krasnenker from his position after receiving 'appropriate' information.
No further information is available, but it is clear that Berezovsky is not going to lose his title 'the comeback kid' yet and there is a lot more to come.
