According to a report in RBC, there are plans to create a leasing company in Western Siberia. The move has already gained the support of the Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, and Novossibirsk Regions. According to the Governor of Novossibirsk Region, Vitaly Mukha, only 15% of aircraft belonging to the region's airlines are currently operating, and the balance is 'junk'.
The new company is projected to own around 45-50 aircraft, with similar number of helicopters. Its objective will be to restore the airlines' fleets in Western Siberia within 2 to 3 years, and revitalise the flagging operations of the Novossibirsk, Omsk, Tyumen, and Irkutsk airlines.
No information has yet been provided on how the new venture would be funded, and by whom.
