The price is right for the first Kazan designed helicopter

The Ansat helicopter will cost one third of the price of its foreign competitors according to Kazan General Director

Commenting after the Ansat's first flight on 17th of August,Alexander Lavrentyev, General Director of KVZ (Kazan Helicopter Plant), has speculated that the cost of their twin turbine multipurpose Ansat helicopter will be around one-third the price tag of its foreign competitors such as the Europcopter Bk-117 which cost between $3m and $3.5m. According to the company the market for helicopters of this class exceeds 1000 aircraft. P&W PK206C's built by Klimov power the helicopter which will begin certification trials later this month, which are expected to be completed within a year.To date the aircraft is reported to have orders for 100 aircraft from the Russian Federal Border Police.
