Pakistani interest in Il-114

Safe Air International orders two Il-114s from TAPO

Published: 8/15/1999

According to a report from news agency, ASIA-Plus, the Uzbek leasing company, Uzavialeasing, will supply two IL-114 aircraft, produced by Tashkent Aircraft Production Organization (TAPO), to the Pakistani company, Safe Air International. According to the management of Uzavialeasing, the operator will deliver the aircraft under a lease with a buyout. The Pakistani airline is scheduled to receive the first aircraft in mid-2000. The issue of whether the aircraft will be powered by Klimov TV7M-117 or by the Pratt & Whitney (P & W) PW127Fs remains unresolved. Representatives of Safe Air International will visit Tashkent in the near future to consider the best option according to ASIA-Plus. Uzavialeasing is also reported as being in negotiation Perm Airlines for leases, for the delivery of two P&W PW127F powered Il-114s
