Published: 8/4/1999

According to a report on the 3rd August in Vladivostok-Novosti, on 29th July a Mig-31 crashed near the village Kamenka in the Russian Far East close to an air force base. According to sources, the Mig-31 took off after undergoing maintenance. There is however a number of versions of what happened next. One suggests that one of the aircraft's two engines failed and the second that the pilot lost control of the aircraft as he took off and it crashed as he was attempting to fly it away from the village.
