Aviakompaniya Tatarstan in $200,000 second hand Tu-134 deal

Despite claims of a $10m price tag for a brand new Tu-134, it would seem that the second hand market is firmly pitched at bargain hunters. The Tatar-Inform Agency has reported that the state aviation company, Aviakompaniya Tatarstan, has purchased a second hand Tu-134, from Litovsky Airlines in Vilnius, for a mere $200,000. It plans to use the aircraft on the following routes: Kazan-Moscow, Kazan-St Petersburg, Kazan-Sochi, Kazan-Mineralny Vody and Kazan-Prague.
Magomed Zakarzhayev, Director General of Aviakomaniya Tatarstan, would not confirm how old the aircraft is, or how much flying time remains. The service life of a new Tu-134 is 40,000 flying hours. It still seems a cheap deal, given reports of around $800,000 for a used aircraft of this type.
