Bashkirsky Airlines, formerly part of Aerovolga, has opened a new route directly connecting the capital of Bashkortostan with the capital of Moldova, Kishinev.
It allows passengers leaving Bashkortostan to clear customs in Ufa, Bashkortostan, transit through Kishinev and then proceed to destinations in Europe without passing through Moscow and the associated terminal/airport transfers and checks. Bashkrsky Airlines has some experience of operating international flights, but this has largely been charter flights to Asia, Europe and North Africa.
The journey from Ufa to Kishinev takes 2 hours 40 minutes.
Moldova, the poorest of the former republics, with a per capita GDP second only to Albania, has seen the development of a number of new routes out of Kishinev airport, the most recent being a service to Budapest, launched by Carpathian Air Transport.
