Positive news from Transaero

Transaero increases flights to Kazakhstan

Published: 7/5/1999

Troubled carrier, Transaero, has reported that, from July 1st 1999, it is increasing the frequency of flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan to 9 flights a week. This follows an increase in the number of flights in May 1999. Transaero has one competitor on this route - the Kazakh national carrier, Air Kazakhstan - which has 7 flights a week. Currently, both the carriers are flying with load factors of 60% and have recently concluded an agreement to 'equalise' tariffs in line with the bilateral agreement between Russia and Kazakhstan. Transaero and Air Kazakhstan are the carriers designated on the route Moscow-Almaty, by their respective governments.
