Volga Dneper seeks to take action on An-124

Volga Dnepr negotiates to extend the lives of its An-124s

Published: 6/15/1999

Oversize freight specialist, Volga Dnepr, has entered into negotiations with shareholder and also competitor the Antonov Design Bureau, in an attempt to extend the operational life of the An-124 freighter. At present, the aircraft is restricted to a service life of 6,000 flight hours, a figure that several of its own and its joint-venture partner, Heavylift"s fleet, have already exceeded. In order to ensure that it is not forced to ground its aircraft, Volga Dnepr hopes to extend the aircraft"s life by up to 30,000 hours, or approximately forty years of service.
