Perm to buy Il-114

The PW powered Il-114 begins to pickup Russian customers
Published:
5/19/1999
According to Interfax, Perm airlines has signed a deal to obtain two Ilyushin Il-114-100 planes, under a leasing agreement, from Uzbek Uzavialeasing. A spokesman for Uzavialeasing said that the aircraft, which are to be powered by Pratt & Whitney, PW127Hs (www.concise.org 22/2/99), will replace the version originally intended for the Russian market underpowered by the use of the KlimovTV7-117S and are expected to be delivered by mid-2000.
The Il-114 is produced at the Chkalov aviation plant in Tashkent and is still undergoing test flights, but the company claims that it is scheduled to go into serial production by the end of 1999.
Chkalov officials estimate demand for the Il-114 in Russia alone to be about 450 units, in order to replace the vast fleet of ageing Antonov and Yak types. The company claims that it already has orders for more than 60 aircraft. To date, Concise Aerospace is only aware of firm interest from Uzbek Airlines.
