Uzbekistan and Iran strengthen air links

Airlines make progress on further cooperation (104 words)

Uzbekistan airline, Uzbekiston Havo Yullary, is reported to be continuing the development of its relations with Iran Air under a recently signed intergovernmental agreement on air connections between the two countries. The airlines have cooperated since 1994, when Iran Air began scheduled flights to Tashkent, with discussions last year relating to the possible overhaul of Iranian aircraft at TAPO. According to Uzbekiston Havo Yullary, the countries have also discussed the possibility of training personnel from the Iranian airline's Qest Air and Pars Aviation Service at the Uzbek carrier's training centre, during 2001.
