VD transports helicopters to UN mission (85 words)

Published: 8/7/2001

Volga Dnepr (VD) has delivered four Tyumenaviatrans Mi-8 helicopters and crews to provide the UN peacekeeping mission in the Western Sahara with logistical support. The helicopters were carried by An-124-100 from the Siberian airport of Roschino to Laayoune in Western Sahara and, according to VD, took more than four hours to load for the ten hour transit, given that the helicopters were a tight fit, with only a couple of inches of clearance.
