Samara reaches Tianjin

Samara announces scheduled service (120 words)

Published: 2/26/2001

Samara Airlines has announced its plans to commence a regular passenger route to Tianjin during March 2001 The company received a licence to fly the route, Samara - Abakan - Tianjin, early in 2000, although at the time it was believed to be unprofitable, owing to the existence of little demand from Samara. In autumn 2000 however, it was determined that if Samara were added to the existing route (Samara - Novosibirsk - Irkutsk), it would be viable; particularly as Sibir has reduced the frequency of its flights to Tianjin - in favour of Bejing - leaving less competition for the largely shuttle traffic from the Chinese city. The route will initially be serviced by the Tu-134.
