Estonians to take surplus Bulldogs

Ex Swedish Air Force aircraft destined for training organisation

Published: 2/1/2001

The Estonian Defence League may receive more aircraft from Sweden as the Royal Swedish Air Force writes off British-built Bulldog trainers. Estonia has a chance to receive up to ten used trainers according to local press reports. The news comes after the Ministry of Defence turned over 74 aircraft, to the Defence League, (20 operational of which six powered) belonging to the former Soviet training organisation DOSAAF, which had remained in Estonia and been used by local aero clubs. Thirty additional aircraft can be repaired. The Defence League also plans to use the aircraft in military exercises, as well as for observation flights for various civilian agencies.
